CYCLING USAMBARA FOR WINE TASTING

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LUSHOTO – GATEWAY TO THE USAMBARAS

Upon arrival at Lushoto Bus Terminal, you will be welcomed by our team and transferred to your arranged accommodation.

Take time to relax, prepare your gear and enjoy the cool mountain climate ahead of your cycling adventure.

DAY 2: EPIC CYCLING LOOP – VILLAGES, WATERFALLS & WINE TASTING

Duration: 6–7 hours
Distance: ~65 km
Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging

Start your day with an energizing breakfast before setting off directly from Lushoto town. This exciting cycling loop offers a mix of climbs, descents and rolling terrain perfect for riders seeking both challenge and reward.

Ride through a network of picturesque villages including Magamba, Mkuzi, Migambo, Mbelei and Soni, each offering a glimpse into authentic rural life in the Usambara Mountains.

Along the way, you will:

• Cycle through lush forests, open farmlands and scenic valleys
• Enjoy stunning viewpoints and fresh mountain air
• Interact with local communities and experience daily village life
• Spot unique wildlife, including the West Usambara two-horned chameleon

Midway through the ride, enjoy a well-deserved lunch stop near Mbelei Village, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery.

After lunch, continue your ride with an exciting downhill stretch toward Soni Village, passing through Sakalani where you will experience a unique cultural highlight:

Usambara Wine Experience
Visit a local producer to learn about traditional wine-making techniques and enjoy a tasting of locally produced Usambara wine.

From here, ride on to the refreshing Soni Waterfall, where you can take a short break, enjoy the scenery and capture memorable moments.

Complete your journey with a scenic ride back to Lushoto, closing an unforgettable cycling loop that truly captures the spirit of the Usambara Mountains.
