After a breakfast start your hike at 9:00am, departing from your lodge to the magnificent forest of Magamba filled with vast types of tree species like such as Ocotea usambarensis, Tallest Fan trees, Tabernaemontana, Pachysiphon, Macaranga conglomerata and many more, there are also a lot of flora and fauna within the reserve, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, Chameleons, butterflies, for birds lovers there is plenty of colorful birds mainly Caprimulgus guttifer (usambara nightjar), Bubo vosseleri (usambara eagle owl), Neocossyehus poensis (white tailed ant-thrush), Turdus pelios (african thrush), Turdus roehli (usambara thrush), Sheppardia montana (usambara akalat), Nectarinia usambaricus (usambara sunbird) and many more. You will then hike towards the old Germany cave that is found on this forest which believed to be dug by Germans during WWII. You will then proceeds your hike to Kiguluhakwewa peak 1,840M where you will spot most of Usambara mountains valleys while at the peak, this is another beautiful viewpoint of its kind.

After your Magamba forest hike we descend to Kwembago village where you will spot popular plant in Germany called Usambaraveilchen, this plant was taken from Usambara mountains far back in colonial times to Germany, the plant in Tanzania is known as African violet with purple attractive flowers.

After Usambaraveilchen we proceed passing through Kwembago primary school and indigenous residential and local houses till Soi-tibunde Usambara Coffee where you will be taken to Coffee farms and learn how coffee is grown, harvested, dried and roasted locally. Get the opportunity to be involved in grinding by your bear hands (because you drink what you have grinded,right?) you will then taste freshly brewed coffee right from the local usambara kitchen. Here you have the opportunity to buy the local packed usambara coffee for your personal usage or a friend gift.

After the coffee tour you will proceed with your hike passing through beautiful Kwembago village valleys and indigenous local stylish homes till entering Irente village where you will be welcomed with delicious Sambaa tribe local dishes which are very tasty and prepared right under the shade environments of Usambara mountains nature.

After your lunch you will proceeds with your hike through Irente indigenous local homes till you reach the local beer producers. You will learn how a merely sugarcane can be grinded to produce taste and sweet juice which is a commendable juice for human kidney healthy by medical doctors also learn and taste the transformed juice to local beer and final product of pure spirit.

From local beer producers you will proceed hiking to the cliff and edge of Usambara mountains where you will be amazed with this breathtaking viewpoint. It’s truly a wonderful experience.

The viewpoint lies at 1,600M where at the top cliff of this viewpoint you will see an immediate steep of rocks rolling down to flatland with wider visibility, at glance in the flatland you will spot lake Manga,

Mombo, Mazinde and Mkumbara villages, a sisal plantations, Railway and highway from Dar es salaam to Moshi/Kilimanjaro and Arusha without forgetting Maasai tribe steppe.

This viewpoint is the perfect place to experience the Usambara mountains sunset which usually occurs between 18:00 – 18:30 hours though it depends with weather of the particular day and personal decision to hold until sunset occurrence.
