Overview

We drive from your Lodge at Lushoto to Mwangoi village 45km, along the way we pass through valleys and beautiful landscapes of Lukozi and Malindi villages till your arrival at Mwongoi village. Our visit will be at Mwamboa beekeeping group a group that’s devoted to eradicate poverty through beekeeping activities while involving women as group members.

The group main activities are beekeeping which comes with sales of organic honey, bee hives maintenance and sales, honey filtration equipments sales, sewing of protective suits and other harvesting gears like smoker and etc

You will learn a lot of group activities mainly beekeeping procedures, bees life circle and how they make honey and their general life.

You will wear a suit to visit a demonstration hive and see what happens inside the hive.

Mr Ngoda will share with you the workings of an operational productive hive, see the smoking process, open their home and check out their different stages of development.

You will get a great insight as to what they do with Honey, Pollen and Propolis within the hive, hold a frame of bees and touch the honeycomb. This is an excellent photo opportunity.

Upon conclusion of the tour you will taste some of the best honey in the world that is being produced by magical Usambara mountains bees.

This is fun, educational and unique experience where you will learn about these magical creatures.

NOTE
This experience is not suitable for individuals who have high allergic reactions to bees, although the risk is very low.

PLEASE BRING WITH YOU

i) Wear closed shoes, preferably high neck walking boots or rubber and long socks
ii) Wear long sleeves pullover and trouser
iii) Do not wear any perfume or deodorants with strong aromas as this can make bees a little aggressive.
