The Usambara mountains are an ideal destination for cycling exercises and tournaments. Whether you're inexperienced nor experienced cyclist this tour is still available for you. We have steep slopes and flatlands too though the chosen trail is manageable by any cyclists. From the cycling trail you will pass through several Usambara villages, reserved forests, see the nature and marvellous landscapes and valleys.
Trip Itinerary
DAY 1 : ARRIVAL AT LUSHOTO
Upon arrival at Lushoto bus terminal you will be transfered to your accommodation for dinner and overnight
DAY 2 : LUSHOTO - RANGWI TO MTAE
Distance: Approx 60km
Cycling duration: 7 – 9 hours
After breakfast at your lodge start from Lushoto town cycling to mtae via Lukozi – Rangwi to Mtae a home town of stunning World view point. Your cycling will pass through indigenous vegetable farms and tropical forests of Usambara with fantastic escarpments till your arrival to Mtae.
In the evening you will watch sunset at the highest point of west usambara which is well known as the World view point.
Thereafter you will have dinner and overnight at Magumba cottages.
Cycling duration: 7 – 9 hours
After breakfast at your lodge start from Lushoto town cycling to mtae via Lukozi – Rangwi to Mtae a home town of stunning World view point. Your cycling will pass through indigenous vegetable farms and tropical forests of Usambara with fantastic escarpments till your arrival to Mtae.
In the evening you will watch sunset at the highest point of west usambara which is well known as the World view point.
Thereafter you will have dinner and overnight at Magumba cottages.
DAY 3 : MTAE - SHUME TO MAGAMBA
Distance: Approx 63km
Cycling duration: 7 – 9 hours
After your breakfast start from Mtae to Magamba, on this day you will be cycling at the edge of Usambara mountains cliffs where you will overview magnificent rain forest of Shume via mambo-shume passing through frequently visited attraction “Jiwe la Mungu” (means God’s stone), your cycling will also pass through Grewal dam another attraction point of Usambara mountains all the way back to Magamba village for your dinner and overnight.
Cycling duration: 7 – 9 hours

DAY 4 : MAGAMBA - MKUZI - KWESINE - MBELEI TO LUSHOTO
Distance: Approx 45km
Cycling duration: 6 – 8 hours
After your morning breakfast resume your cycling from Magamba village to Mkuzi village back to Lushoto via Kwesine – Mbelei – Soni back to Lushoto town.
On this particular day your trail will pass through beautiful landscapes, valleys and coffee plantations till you reach Soni minor town where you will have a blissful lunch at Soni waterfalls.
After your lunch proceed with cycling via Soni to Lushoto tarmac road till the end of your cycling trail which is Lushoto township. Dinner and overnight at Lushoto.
Cycling duration: 6 – 8 hours
After your morning breakfast resume your cycling from Magamba village to Mkuzi village back to Lushoto via Kwesine – Mbelei – Soni back to Lushoto town.
On this particular day your trail will pass through beautiful landscapes, valleys and coffee plantations till you reach Soni minor town where you will have a blissful lunch at Soni waterfalls.
After your lunch proceed with cycling via Soni to Lushoto tarmac road till the end of your cycling trail which is Lushoto township. Dinner and overnight at Lushoto.
DAY 5 : YOUR DEPARTURE
This will be your departure day where your bus ticket would have been booked prior finishing your cycling tour.
You will be picked from your lodge transfered to Lushoto bus terminal for your further travelling plans.
