SAKHARANI VINEYARD EXPERIENCE & SONI WATERFALLS

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LUSHOTO – WARM WELCOME

Upon arrival at Lushoto Bus Terminal, you will be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your arranged accommodation.

Relax and enjoy the cool mountain climate as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

DAY 2: SONI WATERFALLS HIKE & SAKHARANI WINE EXPERIENCE

Distance: ~8 km
Hiking Duration: 5–6 hours

After breakfast, depart from your accommodation by private vehicle to Soni Village, enjoying scenic views along the way.

Upon arrival, begin your hike with a gentle descent to the spectacular Soni Waterfalls. Formed by the powerful flow of the Mkuzu River joining Bangala River, the waterfall cascades dramatically over the cliffs into the lush valleys below—creating one of the most beautiful natural sights in the Usambara Mountains.

Take time to relax, enjoy the refreshing atmosphere, and capture stunning photos.

From the waterfall, begin your scenic ascent through Maweni farms, a picturesque area filled with:

• Colorful butterflies and birdlife
• Lush gardens and natural vegetation
• Coffee and spice plantations

Continue hiking uphill until you reach the beautiful Sakharani Vineyard, surrounded by rolling hills and greenery.

At the vineyard, you will:

• Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in a serene setting
• Take a guided walk through grape farms and macadamia plantations
• Learn about the wine-making process, from grape cultivation to bottling

Wine Tasting Experience
Indulge in a guided tasting session of locally produced red and white Usambara wines, learning the art of swirling, sipping, and appreciating each flavor profile.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase Usambara wine and fresh macadamia nuts as a memorable takeaway.

After this delightful experience, begin your descent toward Soni Village via Mbelei, enjoying more scenic views along the way.

Upon reaching Soni, board a local public bus back to Lushoto town, followed by a transfer to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.
